5 Morning Rituals That Will Change Your Life
Starting a morning routine can be challenging; especially when you find your self wide awake at 2:00 am craving a glass of wine attempting to avoid the negative thoughts invading your mental space. I totally get it… you are a millennial, your head is stuck somewhere in the ethers, and it is time for you to come down.
If you are anything like me, you have prided yourself on being a night owl, a moon chaser, a stargazer, a midnight creative. All of these are beautiful, but does it give you the extra motivation you need to follow your dreams, does it assist you in cultivating a fantastic day by merely allowing yourself the time during the morning to develop a feeling of love, peace, and calm.
It is no mystery that starting a morning routine can set you on a journey to your best self. It can assist with health and weight loss goals, personal goals such as starting your business, energy levels, mood, and les be honest there is nothing like a little bit of one on one time to learn about yourself on a more profound internal level. Opt For a Peaceful Alarm
I’m sure the majority of us hate being awoken by a blaring alarm, that sounds too much like a fire alarm rather than something that is supposed to awaken you from a deep sleep. I say opt for a peaceful ringtone. A little zen, a little piano, a gentle melody, anything other than the sounds of sirens. This way you won’t jerk awake, you won’t be startled, and one thing is for sure you won’t be angry. Choose something uplifting, filled with high vibes. That way from the very moment you open your eyes you are presented with a beautiful feeling.
Wake up Earlier
The Perfect start to any day is choosing to rise early. The perfect time for me during the work week is 5:00 am. Waking at 5:00 am gives me the opportunity to spend two extra hours on myself; doing whatever it is I want to do. Time spent on yourself is never time wasted. I find that rolling out of bed and rushing out of the house with little time to spare does not make for the most fabulous of days. I like to take my time, enjoy the moment, and move at my own pace.
Choose a Warming Breakfast/ Drink.
Choose a warming breakfast or drink. My favorites at the moment are oats made with almond milk, cinnamon, and fresh fruits. There is nothing like a healthy breakfast filled with vibrant foods to get your day started. Usually, before eating anything, it is a good idea to nourish your body with water. During sleep, your body has entered slow down mode, and it needs a little pick me up. Hot water with lemon usually does the trick. By the way, lemon water is a great way to detox the body. It has also been known to heal the complexion from acne and scarring.
Set Intentions/ Write Affirmations
Did you know that you are the Queen of your day? Yup that’s right you can start your day in a joyous mood, but first, you have to believe that you deserve a beautiful day filled with the magic of living. It is always a good idea to start your day off writing intentions. What are a few things you have been struggling to overcome? If it has to do with taking charge of your inner and outer world write down words that will inspire you to be the best you could be. Setting an intention for this matter would go something like this, “I am a powerful creator, it is okay for me to be powerful, I use my power in the service of life, love, and light.” repeat this to yourself throughout the day. Feel it in your being, own it, love it, be it.
Start a Gratitude Journal
Gratitude is one of the most influential conduits of the law of attraction. A grateful heart attracts an abundant life. I urge you to start your day by writing three of the things that feel your heart, mind, body, and soul with gratitude. Journaling will change a negative mindset into an abundance mindset. Shifting your perception from one of lack and fear to a mindset of love and abundance.
